Cabbage curry - Muttakos kuttu


Ingredients:
Cabbage - Muttakos - 1/4 kgBengal gram dal - Kadalai paruppu - 1/2 cup
Onion - Vengayam - 1 no. (Small)
Tomatoe - Thakkali - 1 no. (Large)
Ginger - Inji - small quantity
Garlic - Poondu - 2 nos.
Green chilly - Pachai milagai - 1 no.
Red chilli powder - Kaintha milagai thul - 1 table spoon
Coriander powder - Dhania thul - 2 table spoons
Turmeric powder - Manjal Podi - 1 tea spoon
Asafoetida - Perungayam - a pinch
Grated/Shredded coconut - Thuriviya thengai - 2 table spoons

Method:
  1. Cut cabbage, wash bengal gram dal and put both together in pressure cooker along with all the ingredients like chopped onion, tomatoe, green chilly, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, coriander powder, salt, asafoetida. Mix all the contents well and pour required water.
  2. Boil it for some 20 minutes, now add grated coconut and mix them well.
Cabbage curry is ready to be served. It can be served with rice. It can be served for 4 people. It requires 30 minutes to cook.

Note: Chopp onions and tomatoes first and peel off the skin from ginger and garlic and keep other ingredients ready. Everything is mixed and boiled in pressure cooker no steps for this. Seasoning can be done at the end.

Optional: Seasoning can be done like spluttering mustard, curry leaves.
